In planning a landfill closure, the focus was on incorporating the non-negligible special site factors in an environmentally sound, sustainable solution that was ready for approval, with maximum cost efficiency. Furthermore, this solution had to integrate the leachate prognosis and, based on this, the design of a future leachate treatment system.
