Project topic

Feasibility study for the firing of a gas turbine using biogas

Contracting Party

Operator of a combined heat and power plant

Aims and scope

In order to explore the possibility of using biogas to reduce the fuel costs of the gas turbine plants, the technical feasibility was investigated, along with the impact on performance data and consumption. The economic aspects of the alternatives identified were evaluated in a further module.

Project topics

  • Investigation of the current situation
  • Draw up two alternative plant configurations (fuel composition, plant concept)
  • Estimate the power generated and possible gas compositions
  • Identify the requirements for fuel properties and conditioning
  • Review technical problems and solutions with the gas turbine manufacturer
  • Economic analysis of the possible alternatives
