Problem evaluation relating to a landfill

In order to evaluate the stability of a closed landfill and assess a leachate and ground water problem, the aim was to investigate its hydraulic and geomechanical properties, identify possible courses of action and provide recommendations.

• Planning and execution of a drilling and testing system
• Project planning of a geophysics programme
• Carry out soil mechanical calculations
• Set up an inclinometer monitoring station plus various settlement gauges
• Draw up possible decontamination alternatives including an efficiency and cost effectiveness prognosis

A monitoring and emergency concept was set up in a landfill aftercare project.
